COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Mr. Alain Chalut, president of A. Chalut Auto Ltée, is very involved in Joliette’s community at large. He has financially supported several different philanthropic causes, from health organisations to academic and sports scholarships. Since 1979, the Chalut family has hosted a fundraiser golf tournament, and funds raised from these tournaments have been donated to a number of charitable organisations throughout the region. The Chalut family has grown their dedication to one cause in particular: La Fondation pour la Santé du Nord de Lanaudière.

In 1998, Mr. Alain Chalut learned that his father, Mr. André Chalut, was diagnosed with cancer. It was at this time that Alain’s engagement in the fight against this terrible illness became the most important and significant. This was also the first year where all the profits from the annual golf tournament were donated to La Fondation pour la Santé du Nord de Lanaudière. Since that time, the André-Chalut golf handicap has been dedicated to La Fondation, and more than $600,000 has been donated to date—but we are far from done.

Since November of 2008, Mr. Alain Chalut has been an ambassador of La Fondation, and has greatly involved himself in this organization that is so close to his heart. Thanks to the generosity of the Chalut family, La Fondation was able to build a new hemato-oncology pavilion, and even named the pavilion “André-Chalut Pavilion” at its inauguration in September 2012. This growth allowed the Centre Hospitalier Régional de Lanaudière to respond to more intensive needs of their patients who are battling cancer. In addition, the Chalut Family has 100% financed a palliative room for clients in need. Our dedication to La Fondation pour la Santé du Nord de Lanaudière only grows stronger.
